LOUIS ROEDERER DISCOVERY AWARD 2022 | CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The Rencontres d’Arles associates the Louis Roederer Discovery Award with galleries, art centers, artist-run spaces, independent venues, and institutions. Through their pioneering work, these structures are indeed often the first to support emerging artists.
They can propose an exhibition project by an artist they support and whose work has been recently discovered or deserves to be by an international audience.
Accompanied by a curator, 10 projects will be shortlisted and exhibited at the next Rencontres d’Arles.

During opening week, a jury will bestow the Louis Roederer Discovery Award, which honors an artist and the structure presenting the project with an acquisition worth €15,000 and the public will give the Public Award, which consists of an acquisition worth €5,000.

Each gallery, art center or exhibition space can present a single exhibition project (group and two-person shows are also accepted).
The applicant must:

→ be alive and under 45 years old

→ use photography

→ galleries, art centers, artist-run spaces, public institutions and independent exhibition spaces can participate.

→ in the event of selection, the structure and the artist agree not to show the project, in whole or in part, before it is exhibited at the Rencontres d’Arles.

The application must include:

→ the artist’s biography, including a CV with exhibitions and publications, and a portfolio (pdf)

→ a presentation of the structure (maximum 400 characters, pdf)

→ a text presenting the exhibition project proposed for the Louis Roederer Discovery Award (maximum 1,500 characters, pdf) and visuals of the works exhibited, indicating their number, their dimensions, the medium and how they will be presented (pdf or zipped file; recommendation for photographs: maximum 20 x 30 cm, 72 dpi, jpeg).

Texts must be in French or English, ideally both.
