GABRIELE BASILICO. ROMA | PALAZZO ALTEMPS, ROMA

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Gabriele Basilico’s birth, the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Museo Nazionale Romano – Palazzo Altemps, MUFOCO, and the Basilico Archive, has inaugurated the exhibition “Gabriele Basilico. Roma”, open to the public from December 12, 2024, to February 23, 2025, at Palazzo Altemps.

Curated by Matteo Balduzzi and Giovanna Calvenzi, the exhibition explores the relationship between the photographer and the Italian capital through over 50 artworks in dialogue with the palace’s spaces.
Divided into two main sections, the exhibition spans various themes: from rationalist architecture to the urban fabric of Rome, and the relationship between the human figure and contemporary architecture. The exhibition provides an unprecedented perspective on Basilico’s urban investigations, highlighting his unique approach to narrating Rome.
